HOW you eat matters just as much as WHAT you eat.

Eat your way to better health!

As a trainer, part of programming for clients include teaching teaching them how to exercise better, how to calculate calories,   macronutrients, and meal planning etc.

What I have noticed is that when we get super stressed over our ability to maintain a healthy lifestyle, it's because we rarely focus on all   aspects of the process.

We often talk about
"WHAT" to eat, but not "HOW" to eat.

How we eat also involves who we are being when we eat.

When was the last time you actually sat down and ate your meal without rushing.

 I am so GUILTY of this.....eating in a hurry, eating what's convenient, often times shoving food down without breathing55357;56873;

Can you relate?

Take a look at
6 ways  to the idea of changing "How to eat" and how doing so can contribute to better health.

  1. Make time to eat. Slow down enough to sit and eat for at least 20 minutes.
  2. Starting with your next meal, time (use your phone or a watch) how long it takes for you to eat how you would normally.
  3. Don't change a thing, just eat.
  4. When you're finished, make note of the time (write it down).
  5. Are you surprised? How did you do?

   2.  Repeat step one, only this time, you will add at 5 minutes to the time you recorded. You will continue to do this until you've sat down to   eat for at least 20 minutes. The goal is to get to 20 minutes at each meal time. Try this for a week to see how you feel and note any   changes in your body.

  3.  What is your current state of being before you eat. Check in with your feelings - are you feeling stressed, angry, sad, good, or great?

If you find yourself in a negative state of being, before you eat address those feelings and get to a positive state of being. This is a great   practice to incorporate if and when you are in a negative state prior to eating.

  4.  Breathe you eat. The more you breathe, the more calories you burn, oxygen is a key nutrient that plays an important role in speeding   up your metabolism.

  5.  Put the fork down between bites. This will automatically slow you down if you tend to eat fast.

  6. Eat until you're 80% full. This way you'll feel more energized than stuffed, heavy or uncomfortable after your meal.
