"I Recognize"- Unlocking Your Power

"I Recognize"

A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of attending a super amazing event hosted By Dr. Kristen Guillory.
The final “I recognize” speaker Bootcamp, was just absolutely incredible. There were so many amazing life changing stories; we laughed, we cried, we danced, we sung, we testified, we encouraged and we empowered and strengthened each other. There was space for everyone to share, to heal, to purge, to elevate, and to shine.
It was absolutely magical!
This experience filled me with overwhelming gratitude, love, peace, ease and so many possibilities.
For so long, I was fearful of just letting go of my insecurities to step into my calling. In fact, I was not embracing what I felt compelled to do... (to empower women over 40 to unlock their power and free themselves of guilt, shame, and judgement around their bodies and their health ).... because I was afraid of different things, like feeling like an imposter, feelings of uncertainty, feeling vulnerable, feeling like no one cared to hear. All of which were my own thoughts, beliefs and the excuses, which, in the grand scheme of things were untrue.
I chose to play small. I chose to buy into my excuses and self-sabotaging story. I also allowed the negativity of others to stifle my creativity which distracted me from my purpose.
Then I remembered a thought was presented to me by one of my coaches, “at any given point, in any given situation, I am exactly where I am supposed to be” .
I also realized that without distractions and set backs, I fail to see the lessons and blessings.
During the I Recognize" speaker bootcamp, I had an the opportunity to speak about "Unlocking Your Power."
So many times we feel embarrassed, unworthy, and insecure with our bodies, our health, and in our life in general and we navigate each day by judging and picking at ourselves. emphasizing the negativity and allowing it to infringe upon our lives, taking away from who we should be.
Whyyyyy, do w e invest so much of our time and energy highlighting our faults and flaws, instead of celebrating our successes and accomplishments?
When I coach clients, I start my sessions off with what's going well, or what can we celebrate today?"
Surprisingly, it is often one of the most difficult questions for them to answer. It's often followed by silence because it requires more effort to point out the good that we have done than it is to focus on all the things going wrong.
Research shows that 80 percent of our thoughts are negative and 95 percent of those negative thought are repetitive.
This answers, in part, why it is so difficult for us to celebrate ourselves. I admit, I also found it difficult to celebrate my own accomplishments.
During the pandemic, I was fortunate to be featured on several platforms such as Lifetime Movie Network in their "Her Take" series, as well as several fitness magazines (Strong Fitness, Fit Figures, NutriShop and ICONFIT) and podcasts ; but,  I did not take the time to embrace those life changing and amazing opportunities.  I allowed my insecurity and fear of what others might think or say to overshadow my accomplishments.
I challenge each of you reading this, to take some time to reflect on something you have done at work, at home, in the community, for someone else, something that you accomplished for yourself, or something you overcame and celebrate it.
What is something that you have done or are currently doing, that can you celebrate right NOW? What have you accomplished that you haven't acknowledged?
The experience I had at the "Recognize" speaker bootcamp, shifted something in me. I arrived not knowing what to expect and left there feeling seen, heard, healed, transformed, and loved. Ahhhhhhh, the love. I no longer felt alone, I no longer felt misunderstood, and I no longer felt like no one cared. I was accepted for who I was and encouraged to step out and become who I am meant to be.
That's when I made the decision to stop hiding. I decided to show up as me because I alone can do me. I decided to let go of the things I cannot control and focus on the things I can and I decided to love, honor and respect myself, and stand in my own power.
There are parts of us, that we don’t (chose not to) share, and that's ok, because the parts of us that we are too ashamed to share, does not define who we are. We get to change, to make a difference, and to experience all the good that is available for us. We get to be who we feel called to be.
We get to stand with courage and confidence....to break negative cycles and redefine, rewrite and recreate the next chapters in our lives, we get to make new stories.
What will your story be about?
My story.......
  • is me showing as the real me
  • heals.
  • transforms.
  • leaves space for others.
  • is vulnerable and inviting.
  • is my strength.
  Decide to show up.
I decided to...
  • stand with courage and confidence.
  • be more of me.
  • love, honor and respect me.
  • be in integrity with my values and beliefs
  • be positive.
  • strive for peace and ease in my life.
  • speak my truth.

Life is too short to live on empty, to be unfulfilled, and be unhappy.
We get to change from accepting "a hard life" to  living "a fulfilling life" .
We get to be better and greater; to see dreams become reality; to grow exponentially and have lasting impact on those we meet; and to inspire, empower and transform.
There is NO ONE stopping any of us from living the life we deserve. We get in our own way.
Whatever we desire in life, it will be. God/ the universe will always deliver exactly what you ask for, so make your request good!.
